Welcome to the Bad Back Blog!

Hi I’m Grant, and several years ago, I herniated the L5S1 disc in my lower back. As someone for whom physical activity was and is important, this injury had a substantial impact on my physical and mental well-being. Although it took me some time to adjust, I decided to make the best of the situation. I educated myself about living with and overcoming back pain. I went on to both achieve and exceed in my personal athletic goals as well as overcoming the pain along the way. Today, I’m dedicated to helping others living with lower back pain or herniated discs do the same.

Injuring your lower back or living with pre-existing lower back pain can be the cause of a lot of stress and worry for those afflicted. For those with more sedentary lifestyles, it can be a wake-up call to the consequences of inactivity. For those who injure their lower backs from sports or athletic activities, it can be a frustrating setback to achieving physically-oriented goals. In either case, there is hope in recovering from lower back pain. This website is set up to give you the resources you need to identify the source of your lower back pain and then take action to manage and overcome it. There will be a special emphasis on staying active, as it is by far the best way to manage your existing pain as well as preventing future injuries.

As with any health-related issue, make sure that you’ve consulted a physician about your existing pain, as well as any exercise regimen you undertake to address it. The resources I provide here are meant to be used in conjunction with your physicians’ recommendations, and under no circumstances should my advice supersede their diagnoses or prescriptions.
